Show ( Tht Utah Museum Volunteers Association~ held their eighth annual meeting, "Opening Eyes and Minds" on March 25, 1993 at the Pioneer Craft House. UMFA Curator of Education, Bernadette Brown and UMFA docent Elizabeth Drinkaus participated on the program. A recruitment tea was held April 29, 1993 to introduce the Museum to those who might be interested in becoming docents. A trip to the Spring Salon Exhibit at the Springville Museum of Art was held on April 25, 1993. Vern Swanson, Director of the Springville Museum, spoke to the docents. This was followed by a box lunch. The annual Spring Luncheon was held May 27 Country Club. Ten year pins were awarded to Janice Clute Audrey Day Elizabeth Drinkaus Marjorie Powis at the Salt Lake Kaye Terry was also awarded a pin in appreciation for her years of service to the Museum. The pins, based on the pre-Columbian mask, were designed and created by Frances Garrett, artist and former docent. SPECIAL AWARDS: The Utah Alliance for the Arts and Humanities presented an award to the Museum for Excellence in Art Education Programming for the UMFA-Salt LAKE City Partners Program. ( Lorna Kennedy was given the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Utah Museum Association in their eighth annual conference on March 29, 1993. Lorna has been a docent at the UMFA since 1985, a member of the Museum Advisory Board, and chairperson of the Museum Gift Shop for six years.
