Show Education j ARTREACH to Senior Citizens A tour of Intimate Views -- Still Life Selections from the Glenn C. ]anss Collection of American Realism will be the highlight of the Museum's ARTREACH spring bus tour on April 30th. The ARTREACH to Senior Citizens Program begun by UMFA Educational Services in 1980 continues to serve retired residents of Central Salt Lake City. The program places bi-monthly art exhibits in the commons areas of St. Mark's Tower and the Multi-Ethnic High Rise and offers educational programs coordinated with the art. PARTners Program Spring Tours Spring means the second visit to the Museum for 2, 200 4th grade students participating in the Museum's PARTners program. These students from the Salt Lake City School District will all receive a classroom presentation to prepare them for the Museum tour. Durmg the classroom presentation, American Artists of Yesterday and Today, a docent appears in the costume of an 18th century artist and then as a 20th century artist to explain the growth and change in American art. During tfie Museum visit, the children will recognize and discuss types of art works: portrait, historical painting, landscape, still life, genre and non-objective art. They will also notice that artists use a variety of mediums: oil paints~ acrylics, watercolor, charcoal and pastel, mixed media and pnnt making mediums. 1991-92.marks the 11th year of the Museum's P ARTners program with the Salt Lake City School District. To supplement the children's visit, the Educational Services Department has organized an exhibit, Con~tions: Style, Media aniI Subject Matter, which compfres different types of mediums and styles. In Memory of Georgia White Staff, volunteers, students and friends of the Museum will miss Docent Georgia A. White who died November 22, 1991 following a pedestrian-automobile accident. Georgia was a member of the 1989-90 docent . training class. As an active docent she added her enthusiasm for art and love of children to the Thursday touring team, driving from Ogden each week. She was very active in civic and community affairs in Weber County and Salt Lake City. . The White family and others listed below established a Georgia A. White Memorial Fund with the Utah Museum of Fme Arts which was used to purchase a work of art in her memory -- Place of Shelter, 1990 by Susan Fleming. Ila Jane Aldrich, Gladys B. Bader, Karin N. Interdisciplinary Museum Interns to Present Exhibits and Gallery Talks During 1991-92, six University of Utah undergraduates conducted interdisciplinary research projects based on the Utah Museum of Fine Arts collections. This program is funded by a generous grant from an anonymous private foundation. April 26, 3:30 p.m., Keith Kostuchowski, College of Fine Arts, techniques of Qing Dynasty Chinese porcelain. May 10, 2:30 p.m., Dale Fowers, College of Fine Arts -- the Bromoil photography process. May 10, 3:30 p.m., John Beynon, English Department-Magic Realism and Literature since World War I. May 17, 1:15 p.m., Frank Falk, College of Law-- museum outreach programs for Kindergarten and third grade. May 17, 2:15 p.m., Heidi Hart -- Mother, Lover, Intercessor: The Female Link to God in Late Medieval and Early Renaissance Italy. · Class of Sharon Blackburn, Rowland Hall - St. Mark's School touring the Museum with docent Sally C.
