Show j COLLEGE '• TEAM: ADVISOR: BETSY QUINTANA LEADER: HELENE FAIRCHILD AUDREY DAY ELIZABETH DRINKHAUS BONNIE MOONEY JEAN MOSELEY JUNE ORME RUTH ROBY A new team was developed in order to accommodate the growing needs of the high school and college audiences. The college team is made up of long time docents and emeritus docents who give specialized tours to adult audiences. Each member of the team has chosen two areas of the collection to specialize in and prepare tours to meet the curriculum needs of high school and college groups. Tours were presented to 186 junior high school students, 616 high school students, 429 college students and 39 adults making a total of 1186 students. SLIDE LIBRARY: PATRICIA FAULKNER Educational Services published a new handbook, "Putting It Together - Art Mediums", written by Kaye Terry. Every student in the SLC fourth grades received a copy preceding the winter museum visit. PUBLICATIONS: The newspaper Collection Connections was published in the fall and spring, edited by Betsy Quintana. This year the newsletter was sent to elementary as well as middle and high schools in Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah counties. The Docent Dialogue, mailed monthly to all docents, contained information on docent activities, exhibitions, and tour calendar. A Docent Recruitment brochure was published and distributed to those interested in participating in the new Docent Training Seminar to begin in October 1993. DOCENT WORKSHOPS and COURSES: October 13 and 14, 1992 to prepare for touring the Navajo Children's Exhibition. A video, "Seasons of the Navajo", was shown. Pat Sharp, student and Museum receptionist conducted a discussion of Navajo culture. October 20-22 to discuss goals and touring techniques based upon the elements of art. A special course on Baroque Art was developed by Kaye Terry It was held on five Thursdays in October and November 1992. Lecturers were Rob Terry, Sheila Muller, Kaye Terry, Aden Ross, and Jay Welch. |
