He resides at Kayenta, Arizona, by occupation is a guide in the San Juan Country of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah, and is familiar with the San Juan Country, from Pagosa Springs to the junction of the San Juan River with the Colorado River. R. 1597- 1598. He has seen boats on the San Juan River, skiffs, usually, used for crossing the river, and has seen two small skiffs carrying men who were prospectors or something like that; one from Fruitland, New Mexico, to Bluff, and the other went below Bluff prospecting. He just happened to be there on the river at Mexican Hat and saw them come in. That was about in 1898. R. 1598 He has seen the San Juan River many times since 1891, and has run cattle in and around the San Juan River, crossing the river at Goodrich, Utah, also called Mexican Hat, although Mexican Hat proper, is about two and a half miles from Goodrich. He has also done some prospecting at the mouth of Johns Canyon, about fifty miles below Bluff on the San Juan River, and took in his supplies overland by pack animals. R. 1699.
