Show 660 The photographs contained in Exhibits 13 and 14 were taken by a man named Beman, who was the photographer the first season. He knew Robert Brewster Stanton very well in his lifetime and Mr. Stanton was a mining engineer quite eminent in his profession. The field notes kept by Mr. Stanton are in the Manuscript Department of the New York Public Library. He deposited them there himself, with the consent of Stanton's widow, and he is sure they are authentic. R. 1588. Recross Examination: ( R. Vol. 9 pp. 1588.) " BY MR. FARNSWORTH: " Q. Major Powell had only one arm, didn't he? " A. One arm, yes sir." R. 1588. Further Examination: ( R. Vol. 9 pp. 1589 - 1594.) " BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: " Q. Mr. Dellenbaugh, one or two questions. In describing the boats you stated that they had to be decked over in places to prevent them being filled with water; that on several occasions they were so filled with water.
