In 1875, he rode overland from Salt Lake City almost to San Bernardino, California, just south of the San Bernardino mountains by way of Kanab and the Virgin River, and in 1876 he made a second trip as far as Las Vegas, Nevada returning again to St. George and Kanab, Utah, and was also around the Grand Canyon of the Colorado and various parts of Southern Utah and northern Arizona. In 1884 and 1885 he was on the South side of the Grand Canyon and traveled up from there to the Four Corners where Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico come together, and lived on the first mean of the Ropis, with the Hopis for four or five weeks and spent the remainder of the winter at Keen's Canyon. In 1903, he was down in the Zion's county north of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River and all through that region and in 1907 he was again on the south side of the Grand Canyon and through that region California.
