Show -2- A. General Description, Physical Data and Financial Expenditures by San Diego County Water Authority (Herein Referred to as CWA) for the San Diego Aqueduct as of November 30, 1956: 1. Definition-The First San Diego Aqueduct System, herein referred to as the "San Diego Aqueduct", consists of two installations-the first, commonly referred to as the 1st barrel, was installed in 1945-47 with a capacity of 85 c.f.s. except for tunnels, which were built to a capacity of 155 c.f.s. The second installation, referred to as the 2nd barrel, was constructed later, bringing the total designed capacity to 155 c.f.s. The two barrels merge in the tunnel sections. This construction extends from the west portal of the San Jacinto Tunnel of the M.W.D. Colorado River Aqueduct in Riverside County to San Vicente Reservoir in San Diego County, located on San Vicente Creek-a tributary of the San Diego River-about 20 miles easterly of the Pacific Ocean. 2. Area Traversed by Aqueduct-The topography of the area traversed by the San Diego Aqueduct varies from level, highly developed agricultural lands in Riverside County, in the vicinity of the towns of San Jacinto and Hemet, with rolling hills devoted primarily to dry farming and grazing south thereof, to rugged hills covering most of San Diego County, with some highly developed valley lands notably in the vicinity of Es-condido and Poway. 3. Title to San Diego Aqueduct-remains in United States. This aqueduct is presently being purchased from the United States by the CWA |
