Whereas, the United States, acting through various departments and agencies, constructed an aqueduct running from a connection with the Colorado River Aqueduct of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California near the west portal of the San Jacinto Tunnel in Riverside County, California, to San Vicente Reservoir in San Diego County, California, such construction and other proceedings in connection with said aqueduct having been ratified and authorized by the Act of Congress approved April 15, 1948 (Public Law 482, 80th Congress) ; and 4. Whereas, the Authority is now receiving water through said aqueduct, and because of increasing needs for water in the corporate area the Authority has requested that the United States make an investigation of a second barrel of said aqueduct, with the expectation that if a second barrel is constructed, it will be constructed by the Bureau of Reclamation; and 5. Whereas, the United States is willing to make such an investigation on the terms herein stated, and concurrently therewith may be making investigations of certain local water supplies and facilities within San Diego County, at the request of agencies other than the Authority; Now, Therefore, the parties hereto agree as follows: 6. Subject to the provisions hereinafter set forth, the United States will make an engineering and economic investigation of a second barrel of said aqueduct, over |
