Show 33 PAPERMAKIN a large figure four, the perfect number, below which were the initials x ¥, a private mark of the Funk family. The letters ¢ » fo er Funk also appear, without the figure four, in some of th Ep\mh publications. This mark may be studied in the paper use No. 21 ‘The symbolic watermark of the Ephrata paper mil in the edition of Theosophische Lectionen, printed in 1745. Th ‘most emblematic watermark of this idealistic community appea in the paper used in mystic books that they printed. This l\whl symbolic device consists ofa Latin cross surmounted by a scrol with the words 710w, two keys forming triangles with the pright e upo a narrow panel bearing th name serara. The keys had reference to the Clavicula Salomonis r K(yx of Solomon, a mystic book of the seventcenth centur which was highly regarded by the Brotherhood.
