Réaumur's most important observations relating to natural history may be found in Mémoires pour servir d Uhistoire des in xo. 2 René Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur, the first scientist to suggest the use of wood as a papermaking materia "ectes," published in Amsterdam, six volumes, 1737-1748. Ther were to have been twelve volumes of this work, but the autho died during the process of compiling the seventh volume. Ther S 10 record of Réaumur's ever having actually made paper fro W¥ood, but he was, no doubr, the first scientist to suggest or recommend its use for this purpose.
