Show THE OLD WATERMARK 5 &g% Animal watermarks of every variety are found in papers from th middle of the fourteenth century onwar completed the head, the cye being shaped by a crook in the secon wire. This camel papermark is French, from about 1370 Elephants, leopards, goats, lambs, dragons, cats, horses, and dee are found in abundance in watermarks from the middle of th fourtcenth century onward. The cock is not a common mark i old paper, but a variety of specimens, mostly of French ongm have been discovered in the pages of antique books and m scripts.
