The six volumes ar designated on the title-pages as volumes one, two, one, two, three and four. The first volume of this valuable work was complete The CMM watermark appears 1n315hc text pages of Dr. Schiffer' si volumes whil th cres wa use a a Ppapermar i th mould upon which nearly all of the specimens were fibricate January 30, 1765, and the book contains fifty-five pages of text, fiv plates and ffteen specimens of paper. The examples include paper that were made from wasps' nests, and from various kinds ofwood moss, and vines. In volume two, dated April 3, 1765, there ar twenty-eight pages of text and one plate. The specimens embrac papers that were fabricated from hemp, bark, straw, and cabbag stalks. The third volume (in the order of their appearance), i dated November 3, 1765, has thirty-two test pages, and the specimens include papers made from asbestos, cat-tail and burdoc stalks, thistles, and turf, Volume four was completed January 1 1766, with twenty-four pages of text and eleven samples, includin papers from sced, mallow, St. John's wort, and Indian corn husks ‘The fifth volume is dated April 15, 1767, while the sixth, and last is dated x77r.
