Show *kmm^SWIMMINGâ- Utah University took its seventh consecutive divisional swim title since Coach Welch took over the tank reins at the hilltop school, by garnering 60 points to 36 for the U.A.C., and 17 for Montana State. "The meet, held in Logan, was spotted with brilliant performances. Lewis Ramsey, Ute breast - stroker, gained the spotlight by being the only record breaker. He negotiated the 200-yard event in 2:37.5, which clipped eight-tenths of a second from Les Walling's mark. Aggies surprised by getting all four places in the fancy-diving. Fox, Montana ace, edged out Urry of Utah to win the 220 freestyle. Little Tom Kurmada won firsts in the 60 and 100-yard events. Jack Clayton, recovering from an illness, led two Farmer paddlers in the 440. Gill Sharp easily took the 150-yard backstroke race. â- Other Ute point-getters were Thornton, Welch, Tanner, Bjarnason, Van Tussenbrook, Kesler, and members of both relay teams. â- In the only dual meet of the season the Utes far outclassed the Loganites 63-21. The Aggies got only one first and one second place. Van Buren won the dives for A.C. with Irvine and Gore, Utah, second and third. Bishop, A., trailed Shephard in the 440. Captain "Toe" Sorenson followed Urry in the 220-yard freestyle and captain-elect Norman Van Dam followed Ramsey in the breast-stroke in near-record time.Harlow Sharp91 Toccoy "Toe" Sorenson was named, early in the paddle season, by varsity lettered swimmers to lead them through the current season. Harlow Sharp previously elected decided to devote his whole time to medical studies which Sorenson plans to do next year. 9 Sorenson's specialties are the relay, 100 and 220-yard freestyle events. "Toe" feels so at "home" in the water that he will likely be after his fourth letter next year.***V0^ f*\i - m Aâ- -v-...........
