Show MUSIC COUNCIL- ,mmtM"DONAL SWAN Music Managerâ- The Music Council is the authority which governs all musical activities of the University of Utah, and supervises the appearances and finances of all campus musical organizations, such as the Men's Glee club, the Women's Glee club, the band, the orchestra, and string and vocal quartettes. â- Professor William Peterson acting in the capacity of chairman this year, has been assisted by Professor Arthur Freber and Professor Thomas Giles of the faculty and Jeanette Clawson, junior representative. Donal Swan, the music manager, had the more detailed executive duties of the council under his direction. â- The music council was successful in obtaining excellent engagements for the various musical organizations of the campus. The appearance of the Men's Gleeclub and the Piano Octette at a downtown theatre for a week's engagement was one of the outstanding achievements of the year. The Girls' Glee club, and the Men's Glee club, and the Concert Orchestra participated in the Union Building "At Home" series sponsored by the faculty of the university. The band, the Men's Glee club and Double Quartette, the Concert Orchestra and String Quartette, and the Women's Glee club and Double Quartette furnished an entire assembly program during the winter quarter, besides appearing as part of the program in other assemblies. â- All radio broadcasts, entertainment at rallys, and programs before campus and city organizations, given by the musical groups of the campus, were sponsored and arranged for by the Music Council.GilesDerrickClawsonFreberSwanTwo Hundred Seventy-nine |
