Show -7- [Senate Journal, pp. 429-33, March 11, 1929] Colorado River Commission Mr. Donnelly moved that when the Senate recess it do so to reconvene at 2 o'clock, p. m., in Joint Session with the House of Representatives, to hear the report of the Colorado River Commission. The motion was agreed to. Recess Mr. Sutter moved that the Senate stand at recess until 2 o'clock, p. m. The motion was agreed to, and (at 11 o'clock and fifty minutes, a. m.) the Senate stood at recess. Afternoon Session In accordance with recess taken by the two Houses, the Senate and House of Representatives, assembled in Joint Session at 2 o'clock, p. m., in the House of Representatives' Chamber, the President of the Senate in the Chair. The President announced that the purpose of the Joint Session was to receive a preliminary report of the Colorado River Commission, composed of the Honorable Charles B. Ward, the Honorable John Mason Ross, and the Honorable A. H. Favour. The President introduced the Honorable Charles B. Ward, who outlined in a general manner the work of the Commission and reviewed the various phases of the difficulties encountered by the Commissioners in attempting to arrive at a fair and just agreement. Mr. Ross was introduced and spoke on the tentative proposals made by the Commission on water division. Said proposals were conditioned upon: (1) A satisfactory arrangement affording Arizona proper revenue from the Boulder Dam project, and |
