Show -2- [Journal of the House, pp. 70-75, January 15, 1923.] House Concurrent Resolution No. 1, by Mr. Wisener of Yuma, was read in full as follows: House Concurrent Resolution No. 1 Granting the consent and approval of the Legislature of the State of Arizona to the Colorado River Compact. Whereas, the Act of Congress approved August 19, 1921, entitled "An Act to permit a compact or agreement between the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming respecting the disposition and apportionment of the waters of the Colorado River, and for other purposes," permitted the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming to negotiate and enter into a compact or agreement providing for an equitable distribution and apportionment among the said States of the waters of the Colorado River and of streams tributary thereto, upon condition that a suitable person, to be appointed by the President of the United States, should participate in said negotiations; and, Whereas, under the authority of said Act of Congress the representative commissioners of the said States did on the 24th day of November, 1922, at the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, sign a compact under the provisions of said Act of Congress, which compact was approved by the representative appointed by the President of the United States: Therefore |
