Show -29- [Journal of the House, pp. 565-71, March 8, 1923.] House Concurrent Resolution No. 9, by Mr. Wisener of Yuma, was read in full as follows: House Concurrent Resolution No. 9 Whereas, the Act of Congress approved August 19, 1921, entitled "An Act to permit a compact or agreement between the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, respecting the disposition and apportionment of the waters of the Colorado River, and for other purposes," permitted the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming to negotiate and enter into a compact or agreement providing for an equitable distribution and apportionment among the said States of the waters of the Colorado River and of streams tributary thereto, upon condition that a suitable person, to be appointed by the President of the United States, should participate in said negotiations; and Whereas, under the authority of the said Act of Congress the representative commissioners of the said States did on the 24th day of November, 1922, at the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, sign a compact under the provisions of said Act of Congress, which compact was approved by the representative which was appointed by the President of the United States.
