Show Cowley Eyes for Speedy PassUTAH 43 - B. Y. U. 0Hopelessly trampled by an avalanche of touchdowns, an invading band of expectant B.Y.U. Cougars, disheartened in the first two minutes of play by a severe injury to their ace field general, LaComb, fell victims to the surging Crimson wave, 43-0, on October 13th.Scoring in the first sixty seconds of play, Utah countered again in the same period on a pass from Cowley to giant Sid Kramer. Pomeroy, plunging savagely, added the third score in the second quarter. A field goal by dependable Les Grames, and three touchdowns in the second half gave Utah its formidable margin of victory over the valiant but outclassed Romney charges. The "Y" gridders with two advantageous chances to score were unable to find vulnerable positions in the Redskin wall when in the shadows of the goal posts.Outstanding as the day's most brilliant star was Cougar Captain Max Warner. His remarkable play and retentiveness earned him praises from 10,000 fans.FRED McKENZIEOne of the mainstays of the Redskin forward wall was the rampaging "Popeye" McKenzie, husky tackle, whose vicious defensive play made his position almost unassailable.MARTIN HOGGANAfter a season of inactivity, and displaying the same remarkable agility at end that predominated his playing of 1932, Hoggan supplied the line with invaluable sturdiness.STERLING JENSENThis capable halfback, renowned as one of the "four horsemen" of Jordan High school a few seasons ago, saw only limited action as a reserve. Two Hundred Fifty-eight |
