Show MUSICBiBSiAlthough not directly associated with the Glee clubs, Professor Arthur P. Fre-ber and Bandmaster Clarence J. Hawkins displayed some brilliant work in conducting the concert orchestra and concert band respectively. They again proved themselves to be powerful forces in maintaining the high standards of the music department.Arthur FreberConcert OrchestraMenDirected by Professor Thomas Giles, the Men's Glee Club developed into an organization of one hundred and ten voices, one of the largest vocal groups ever assembled at the University.Appearances were made, both within the city and at points throughout the state, and in every case the response was indicative of the highest type of performance. Besides the theater engagement, the club assisted at several theater and radio pep rallies; was well received at its appearance in the University "At Home" series, and furnished the program for a student body assembly. Their participation in the opera concluded their many activities.Chester Hill deserves commendation for his excellent work as accompanist and piano soloist. The complete cooperation of the group was largely attributable to its officers, John Stevens, president; Burt Keddington, vice-president; Ossman Elggren, secretary. Two Hundred Twenty-seven |
