Show machine. During these contests, the Redskins amassed one hundred and seventeen points to six for their over-powered foes. In Salt Lake on October 27 before 20,000 fans, the Crimson met the Oregon gridders from Eugene, and after a titanic struggle, lost a 7-8 decision. A blocked kick rolling for a safety was the deciding margin of victory.Calamitous November followed. Heading east with an unblemished conference record, Utah invaded the Colorado stronghold at Boulder, and fell before the vicious onslaughts of the Buffalo underdogs, 6-7. The following Saturday, the Farmers of Fort Collins, led by "Red" White, whipped the invaders, 6-14, with a barrage of devastating passes. "Turkey" day, with its downcast skies and brisk winds, saw the unbeaten Aggies victims of a spirited Armstrong eleven, 14-7. Costly misplays contributed to the disastrous Logan downfall.Although Co-captains Arnett and Rinaldi, Pomeroy, Pugh, Callis, Johnson, and all-conference guard, Dan Savich, graduate, the outlook for next September is exceptionally promising. Aided by outstanding freshman material, and the return of practically the same eleven that started in the 1934 contests, Utah should make a determined effort to regain the position in the football limelight they held so many years.1934-35 FOOTBALL SQUAD:* S*?Sp5|f^l||f:||^^{ty iJohnson, Swan, McKenzie, Beckstead, Callis, Berquist, Bergeson, Lunnen, Kramer, Banks, Spalding, ReeveCoach Ike Armstrong, Wood, Johnson, Jenson, Roberts, Summerhays, Boggan, Pomeroy, Pugh, Grames, Jeppson, Savich,Bering (assistant student manager), Einar Nielson (trainer).Miller, Hunt, Peterson, Stevens, Chez, Rinaldi, Arnett, Larson, Fetzer, Jensen, JohnsonVan Voorhis (student manager), Boam, Larson, Fratto, Smith, Cowley, Hawkes, Hess, Call, Foulger, Andrus, BleakTwo Hundred Fifty-five |
