The first two drugstores they passed were closed? but at the third? the pharmicist was just preparing to lock his door? Darkness was coming on? and the scene at the front of the store? his friend talking with the druggist? was like a dream sequence, the two men moving in slow motion; but finally his friend returned with a small bottle of pills, and they drove on toward home? "We were lucky?" his friend said? "He was just locking up?" "Yes?" was all the Professor could bring himself to say? When they arrived at the house, his friend had to help the Professor down the stone steps to the front door? "You know?" the friend said as they entered the house? "I think I better stay here with you tonight?"
