When he got into the house, he announced that he thought he would attend the meeting on Sxinday. He also said he thought he would have a martini. Would the others join him? His daughter and his wife, relieved at seeing him appear so normal, said they would. But it was obvious they had been talking about him. What she said was: "I don't see why you're so stubborn about seeing a psychiatrist. It's no big deal. I've got friends who've made it a way of life." All he could think was, why are they pushing me? Again his mind was flooded by gloom, and he could no longer sit with them. He picked up his drink and walked out again onto the patio. |
