Dear Sir, " SKI SCHOOL DIRECTOR Jan.31/1974 A problem has arisen here at Brian lie ad , in regard to Mr.G. HartLmeier actively teaching, even so he is not ski school Director or connected in any way, shape or form with the ski schoo1.It is my understanding that there is only one concession, approved by the U.S.Forest Service and of course by the area owner. The same situation existed last year, but being my first year, I chose to be patient.I know now that it was a wrong decision. ALmost every day G.HartLmeier is teaching and I can assure you that it is not just a pointer or two,to a friend,as surely he will c1a~ to be.Everyone here,patro~,emp10yees,have reported his teaching activities. I understand that in his shop,he still displays pictures from the 'time he had the ski school and the word around his shop is: we give lessons OD request. His sister in law is also at t~es,teachin&. Last year, the snow laDser HE' .Pete Brost asked me several times if I wanted him to do something about it,but as explained above, I decided ••• to wait. The area can take positive action if necessarY,but prehaps you may have the power to convince G.Hartlmeier that he is wrong. I·tr. Kolb' s credentials, as you know, are impressive, but it is necessary that they be confirmed as we have done in the past. Hence, the purpose of this letter is to request that you get in touch with the Austrian authorities (I presume Professor Kruckenhauser will again help in this matter). Please expedite this matter. It is my intention to submit ~Ir. Kolb's application to the Divisional Board '1eeting I will be attending on March 26, 1974, with a recom~ endtion that he be accepted into our Division now, and that such membership be conditional upon the credentials check I am requesting. lIenee, unless some negative item came from the Austrian authorities, we would consider him a member in good standing immediately assuming our Board approves this action. In the event things transpire as outlined above, we would thus request that should Hr. Kolb attend the PSIA convention this year, that he be recognized as a member from our Division. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Edwin J. Pond Administrative Vice President np cc Rainer Kolb TO: Board of Directors FROf.v1: Keith Lange, President ISlA HE: Divisional Presidents' Meeting - April 4, 1974, Sno,~assf Colorado Common Feelings toward PSIA problems were shared by all presidents. 'l'he following items are an ou tl ine of recommendations ~3Ubmittcd to the PSIA Board that should help correct some of t.he problems: 1. PSlA office submit a monthly report of activities to all I)i visional presidents r secretaries, and Board :members. 2. A monthly financial report. 3. Provide a schedule of events such as: Date of dues, Newsletter, important dates, national shows, clinics, seminars, et.c. 4. Have the office open five days per week. State the office hours r and have someone in the office <'1.t all times. 5. Fire the two existing secretaries - incompetent. 6. Dennis to clear all trips and expenses by Executive Committee. 7. Eave a non-administrative Convention Chairman. 8. Publish criteria for convention bids so that everyone bids on U:e same basis. 9. Date all correspondence and answer letters irmneoiately. P discussion W?S held on the matter of continuation of PSIA membership. Only one Division indicated problems with re~aining, but hoped to rectify that on May 12, at their E~pring Symposium. All Divisional presidents have written a personal letter to the PSIA president on why tJ1CY should participate. Other items discussed were: Divisional Secretary pay, separate office other than horne, insurance benef i t~" and the Demo 'l'eaI11 .. I helieve that the Divisional Presidents' Meeting accomplished a great deal to benefit our members and perpetuated a better run national office.
