INC. 1859 So. 8th Wf~st Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Huch: I am writing this to solicit the support of Arrco Industries and of the Thiokol Chemical Company for the 8th Interski Congress which will take place in Aspen in April of 1968. The Interski is an international meeting of ski instructors from all over the world held every third year. The last one held in Bad -Gastein, Austria attracted 500 delegates from 23 countries including some Iron Curtain countries. This is the fir st time the Inter ski has ever been held in North America and I feel sure that it will attract tremendous interest from all over the world. All the delegates attending the meeting are closely involved with skiing and it will be a unique opportunity for American manufacturers of equipment associated with the Industry to display their products to an international audience. The 8th Interski has been incorporated as a non-profit organization to handle the details of putting on the meeting. We have a budget of some $35, 000 to meet and the Aspen Skiing Corporation has agreed to give $10, 000 towards it. Any support you can give us will be greatly appreciated. Certification Committee and IoSoI.A. Board of Directors FROM: Lou Lorenz, President The following is a report of an incident that this office feels must warrant the attention of the I.SoIoAo Certification Committee and the Board of Directors. These comments are not related as fact but merely as a report of an incident as told to the President by the various individuals involved. On Friday evening, March 10, 1967, Mr. John Sohrweide, who was a scheduled examiner the following day at Kelly Canyon, and Mr. Roger Roche who was scheduled to be a student examiner, were allegedly involved in an altercation resulting in both being removed to jail by the Idaho Falls police, and later being taken to the hospital for minor emergency treatment. This altercation purportedly took place in the public lounge-restaurant area of the Westbank Motel, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Mr. Glenn Evans and Mr. Wilbur Thomas were also allegedly involved to the extent of trying to stop the action. As a result of this incident Sohrweide and Thomas disqualified themselves from the March 11th Certification Examination and departed from Idaho Falls, after reporting their intentions to the I.S.I.A. President by telephone. The president feels that Sohrweide and Roche should be restrained from any further participation in any capacity with the I.SoLA. certification examination program, since there may be a yiolation of the. Association Code of Ethics (Article VI) or Certification Plan (Paragraph 1) involved. This restraint should be effective until the facts of the incident can be reviewed by the Certification Committee and the Board of Directors. LL:mep Sincerely, ~~~ Lou Lorenz, 1. S. I.
