And then as he went around, well, as salesmen went around to sell mise, there was a large group of Phillipinos, laborers, and they would want certain salted fish. And so, he would handle those things. GO A pungent thing (laughs) L Didyou taste it. Some of it. That salted fish. Did you try it. GO Well;he JflRO~e~Smething similar to that. Yes. L So he would import it for the Phillipino workers. Salted fish. GO Yes. And other things. I ca't remember what else. There were other items. Small gorceries might be ordered along with the miso. L Did he sell rice. GO Yes, he sold rice. The ingredients came from diffierent places. Like I said, the rice is ordered from Sacramento area. And the soy beans - he used to always talk about buying it from Virginia. Norfolk, Virginia. Warehouse or a mill. In Norfolk. In Salt Lake City, let's see whete did we order it. Texas. L Soy beans? GO Arkansas. Pehaps it was Arkansas. But the rice was always from California. L Caned bamboo shoots, soy sauce, Hawaiin saki, salted fish, rice, soy beans. |
