Show Wr ITH a squad of hustling Redskins trimmed to sixteen men, Coach Vadal Peterson and his Utah University hoopsters journeyed to Provo to inaugurate the regular season with the divisional championship "Y" troupe. More fire, experience, and speed made the inspired Provoans a slight favorite. In the first tiff the Utes traild from the time the game began until the finish. A ten-point lead at mid-game was extended to I 3 at the close, due largely to Whitman's phenomenal scoring and quarding. Utah lost, 27-40. The second night found a better tempered team of Utes and a sensational Utah sub, all of whom breasted the Cougars, 34-33. Flashy playing by Grant Ben-nion outshone all floor rustlers, but Ed Erekson, the untried Indian reserve forward, caged three fast goals in the waning moments of the game to give the state school its one-point victory over the champs.
