Show UTON I AN ... I 9 Dean of Women I HE duties of the department of the Dean of Women are four in number: administrative, academic, social, and personnel. All these duties have been handled with care and thought during the past year by Dean Jean Slavens. Although this is the first year Dean Slavens has been on the campus, she has successfully guided all women students of the university. In order to become better acquainted with each girl, the Dean adopted the new plan of interviewing each freshman girl personally. The result has proved very beneficial for the girls. She has also made careful inspection of all boarding houses, supervised the health programs of various students, chaperoned social parties for several women's organizations, and given strict attention to the scholastic averages of all women students. Miss Slavens graduated from the University of Arizona, and received h^r M.A. from Stanford University, later doing graduate work at Columbia University. Page 22 |
