Show Th HE Utah University stadium was without a 1932 Thanksgiving day classic as a result of an attempt to stage the traditional Ute-Aggie clash without the usual concommitant unpleas-antries-rain, snow, cold, and mud wallows. On October 29, Smilin' Dick Romney led his Utah Aggie grid proteges into the "U" bowl for the main event of Utah's homecoming festivities. Sunshine and a fast greensward backgrounded the affair for the first time in several years. Rated three to five touchdowns inferior to the touted Tribe, the Aggies provided an eye-opener by keeping the Crimson away from their goal for the entire first half. After the rest period the Redskins came back and scored two touchdowns, two goals, and a safety, for a 16-0 win. When the Utes were unable to get far in the first half with Crashin' Chris advancing the ball behind lighter blockers, the "U" board of strategy decreed Captain Chris-tensen to block. The result was that the diminutive Roily Sleator reeled off yardage almost no end. Utah, 16 vs. U. A. C, 0 POMEROY Halfback Ute Reverses Make Yardage Through Denver Line Page 248 |
