Show Joseph T. Kingsbury President Emeritus T was in 1887 that Joseph T. Kingsbury was appointed an instructor in this institution, having previously been a student from 1872 to 1875. He served as president from 1892 to 1894, was re-appointed in 1897, and served in that capacity until 1916. Honorary degrees had already been conferred upon him by the school he had served so well, and it was a final recognition of merit that he was appointed President Emeritus. As student, as instructor, as president, and as President Emeritus, the life and work of Joseph T. Kingsbury have been inseparably bound up with the growth of the university. Intimate with its early needs and skillful in applying pertinent remedies, he has been in a large degree responsible for the present enhanced position of the university. Even today he has made his time valuable as supervisor of student employment work. He has made himself an invaluable place in the school he loves, and an endeared place in the hearts of those who have felt his influence. Page 20 |
