Show Standing-Barnes, Babcock, Brunetti, Ashton, Badger, Graham, Catmull, Chandler, Knight, Allen Seated-Swenson, Rich, Ross, Christensen, Hyde, McKay, Rebalaeti, Clayton Varsity Play LJPENIING fhe mosf brilliant campus theatrical season in many years, the country's oldest college dramatic organization, the University of Utah Dramatic Club, presented its thirty-sixth annual varsity play, "The Best People," December second and third. As an entirely new venture, two students were chosen for the leading roles, one playing the first night, the other the second. Ellen Christensen and Kathryn Hyde were both equally charming and fascinating in the feminine lead as Marion Lenox, a sophisticated New York society girl who craves life on a Missouri farm. Charles Chandler In the male lead did convincing acting. Others who rounded out two thoroughly enjoyable evenings were Hyde Clayton, Andrew Brunetti, Fred P. Barnes, Paul Badger, Aenon Graham, Joseph Catmull, Loretta Rich, Annie Ross, Emma Rae McKay, Howard Allen, and David Ashton. Throughout the entire performance, the finished, artistic touch of Professor Maud May Babcock, director, was apparent. Charlotte Knight, as manager, was ably assisted by Elbert Sheffield, assistant manager, and Maurice J. Knight, stage manager. Page 138 |
