DL: We started from Needles, California and go that way towards- that big city name . . . FO: Los Angeles? DL: Yah. FO: Did you go a l l the xcray i n t o Los Anggles? DL: Um hum. FO: Did you l i k e working for the Santa Fe? DL: Um hum. FO: Hard x^ ork? DL: It wasn't hard if you learn. FO: I see, if you learn how. DL: Um hum. FO: Pay good? DL: Um hum. They were paying you know, half pay, you know- We used to work 6 months x^ ork and if x-/ e work six months we come home free and go back free. That's what they used to do with us. FO: Free trip, huh? DL: Um hum. FO: How long would you be home? DL: Oh, maybe two weeks and then go back. GT: Go back for another six months. DL: Um hum. GT: Were you a pretty young man then? |
