Show FO: Did your parents want you to go down there? DL: Um hum. FO: They wanted you to learn, huh? And how old were you? DL: Oh, I was bout 8 or 9. FO: About 8 or 9. And how long did you stay in school down there? DL: I just stayed maybe about four years. FO: About four years. And did you ever go back to school after that? DL: No, I never did. FO: Um hum. GT: Were there quite a few other Paiute kids over there at that school at Tuba City? DL: Yah, there was quite a bunch of boys there but . . . GT: All from Navajo? DL: No, they were from Tuba City. GT; From Tuba City. DL: Somewhere around what they call Willow Springs. There are some Paiutes over there. FO: Was Willow Springs a Paiute community then? DL: Yah, it x^ as. FO: Is it now? AD: It still is. DL: Yah, it's still. They were related to us and some of them were related to the guys that live here before. They'd come over from that side. |
