REPORT ON THE ALKALINE LAKES, THERMAL SPRINGS, MINERAL SPRINGS, AND BRACKISH WATERS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND ADJACENT COUNTRY. UNITED STATES ENGINEER OFFICE, GEOGRAPHICAL SURVEYS WEST OF THE 100TH MERIDIAN, Washington, February 7, 1876. SIR : I have the honor to submit herewith the report on the chemical composition of the alkaline lakes and thermal and mineral springs of Southern California, visited during the field- season of 1875 by parties of your expedition. Thus far very little had been known of the nature of these waters, and the information will, next to the scientific value, prove also very acceptable to those interested in this region. |
