"Eyes brown; bill black; lees a greenish tinge." 8 The specimen I described as P. xanthophrys was labelled " Navigators ; but this was a mistake, as this bird, which must bear Mr Layard s previous name, is confined to the Fijis. ; This is a well-marked, excellent species, always characterized by the yellow patch surrounding the eye, extending to the ear-region Lven the young bird (No. 84) shows this character, but differs otherwise in being underneath strongly tinged with olive-yellow showing no whitish shafts, which form such conspicuous stria*; even on the back of the old birds.
