Show 20. point situate on the west bank of the Colorado River, near the south line of Sec. 18, T. 5 8., R. 2H- B. , e.B.M. , A certified copy of this notice of appropriation and an assignment by Petit to the Palo Verde Mutual Water Company/ is attached hereto and marked Exhibit I".-' The Company, since the posting and filing of the aforesaid notice, has perfected Its lntake and canal system and was delivering 350 cubic feet of water per second at the time of my Investigation; and Is able to deliver 700 cubic feet per second. In addition to the water rights acquired by the aforesaid appropriation, the Palo Verde Mutual Water Company secured by purchase from the Palo Verde Land and Water Com-pany^all of the water rights appertaining to the "Blythe Rancho", which had been acquired by Thomas H. Blythe. During the years 1877 to 1883, Thomas H. Blythe was engaged in the construction of an irrigation system to take water from the Colorado River, at the point now known as the "Blythe Intake", for the purpose of irrigating a large tract of land in the Palo Verde Valley which he had acquired from the State of California under the Swamp Act. The following filings made by Thomas H. Blythe are of record: July 17, 1877, Thomas H. Elythe filed on 95,000 minors inches at Olive Lake, as per Eook 4, page 327, San Diego County Records.3/ Olive Lake was at that time a natural basin near the channel of the Colorado River, about one mile below the Blythe Intake. 1/calif.
