In order to give a olear understanding of the resources and liabilities of the Palo Verde Mutual Water Company, It Is necessary to take up briefly the history of the organisation of the company and its subsequent operations, which were as follows: The Palo Verde Mutual Water Company was organized under the laws of the state of California on the 10th day of June, 1908, for the purpose of supplying water from the i / Colorado River, at cost, to Its stockholders, for use upon lands in the Palo Verde Valley In Riverside and imperial counties, California, which lands are particularly described In the Articles of incorporation, a certified copy of which is attached hereto and marked Exhibit B." At and prior to the organization of the said Palo Verde Mutual Water company, the Palo Verde Land and Water Company had been maintaining and operating an irrigation system to supply water for irrigation to a large tract of patented land In the Palo Verde Valley known as the "Elythe Banoho*» which it had acquired by purchase, together with water rights, etc., from the estate of Thomas H. Biythe.
