We had the notice that in a certain place in Taos, coming towards the Moreno, towards a little place called Las Tienditas, in the canyon de Fern~ndez, there he had slept one night, and that he had attended a wedding, and he had even had supper there, and he had with him a small group of horses he had stolen. And we received notice that Juan Mart{nez was there. This is a pretty story. We had a deputy from Taos, along the canyon of Fern~ndez a place that's called Las Tienditas before going up through El Flechado [Palo Flechado Pass] as it was called then. This was a mountain. Well, this deputy that we had there was a son of the deceased Malaquillas Mart{nez, a very prominent man in the county of Taos, he had served as Senator in the state of New Mexico for various terms, a good man, and one of his sons, Malaquillitas as we called him, he was our deputy in Las Tienditas, and we sent him notice to be on the look-out for this boy. And no sooner said than done. He captured him there and then he telephoned us that we should go for him, and he had him over there. We went, me and Don Manuel 0.
