Show and levee system for the reclamation of lands in the Palo Verde Valley, California, and to supply and distribute water, at cost, from the Colorado River to its stockholders, who are limited to owners or claimants of land under the system, and to do anything necessary to carry out such purposes. 31,490 shares of stock, of which only one class is authorized or issued and which carries its pro rata share of the water available, have been subscribed, 30,854 shares being fully paid in and 636 partially paid with the unpaid balance secured by notes and mortgages. Water can be distributed only upon land upon which stock shall have been located and made appurtenant and when such stock is located upon a tract of land, one share is issued and so located for each acre thereof and the cost of construction and maintenance is charged equally and proportionately against all stock without regard to the location of the land or the method of water distribution. All stock holders are required, when stock is issued, to grant the company, by deed, rights-of-way over their land, and maps covering rights-of-way over public lands have been filed. Resources and Liabilities. The resources consist of: Water rights, acquired by appropriation and purchase; two intake sites on the Colorado River, owned in fee simple; rights-of-way over the "Blythe Rancho"; 120 miles of main and lateral canals; 19.66 miles of levees along the west bank of the Colorado River; a dredger, tools and engineering equipment; live stock; real estate in the valley valued at $4,700; cash on hand; and $13,673.56 due on stock subscriptions; with a total valuation of $787,621.00. |
