Show Saturdays and turned back their state foes, Utah State and B. Y. U. The Aggies went under, 14-6, and the Cougars were subdued, 21-6. The Utes next hied themselves to Eugene to do battle with Oregon U in the second in-tersectional battle of the season. The Oregon boys came out on the long end of a 26-7 score. â- Coach "Navy Bill" Saunders brought his Silver and Gold crew from Colorado U, to Salt Lake, and before they left, the Redskins had administered a 13-6 trouncing to the boys. The following week Chief Ike led his charges to Denver where they suffered their first conference setback in five years. Although the Pioneers won 13-0, they were out-gained and outplayed by the Utes, who simply couldn't put the ball across the goal line that day. â- Returning to their own stampinggrounds with a spirit of do or die, Utah went out on Thanksgiving day and handed the Colorado Aggies a 13-0 reverse to throw the conference championship into a three-way tie. â- In looking forward to next year, there are many places left vacant by graduation. Thirteen gridders leave the wigwam via the cap and gown route, Captain Davies, Sleater, Croft, Ostler, Richins, Westphal, Woods, Bueh-ner, Stephens, Bridge, Knight, Carlston, and McDonald. Of these, Davies, Sleater, Croft, Ostler, and Richins have been accorded all-conference ratings. â- A wealth of reserve material, coupled with a few freshman prospects, gives Ike a fair nucleus with which to work. Add to this the spirit with which the Utes will go about to regain their shaken prestige, and the outlook is far from gloomy.First row: Hartenstein (manager), Hills (manager), Pugh, Peterson, Jensen, McDonald, Sleater, Risner, Franks,Cowley, Buehner, Larsen, Hawks.
