Show V UTONIAN ... 1934 S Dr. L. L. Daines School of Medicine Th E School of Medicine of the University has gained a notable reputation, ranking among the highest of two-year medical colleges in the country. Credits receive full recognition at nearly all advanced institutions. Entrance requirements are sufficiently rigorous to make admittance an honor and to keep scholarship standards high. When Dr. L. L. Daines, dean of the School, was appointed special expert for leprosy by the United States Public Health Service, and, with Harold Austin, instructor in bacteriology, was called to the leper colony in Carville, Louisiana, to conduct experimental work there, the University was once more accorded a signal honor. The commission was a typical instance of the service individual members of the medical school have long rendered the commonwealth. In the absence of Dr. Daines, Professor Orin A. Ogilvie acted as dean. The same accomplished corps of instructors has served during the past year. Medical Faculty Page 28 |
