Show 406 MICHIGAN and pump installers, standards for the construction and installation of water wells, and the abandonment of wells.87 There are provisions for notice and hearing if the commissioner believes there has been a violation of the act or of the rules, regula- tions, or construction code. If, after a hearing, the commissioner determines there has been a violation, he shall order the responsible person to make the proper correction. Certificates of registration can be suspended where violations are found to have occurred.88 Exempted from the provisions of the act are wells drilled by a person for his use in a single family house which is his permanent residence or intended for use only for farming purposes.89 There is also an act in Michigan which allows a cause of action for damages and abatement where an artesian or flowing well is allowed to run to waste in an unreasonable manner or where a well is put to an unreasonable or unnecessary use.90 Publications Available Institute for water resource research : Institute of Water Research Michigan State University East Lansing, Mich. 48823 517-353-3742 Publications Bartke, Dredging, Filling and Flood Plain Regulation in Michigan, 17 Wayne L.
