Show ,,. .*** The Team Basket Ball NO national basketball championship or emblem of that great athletic achievement has graced the State of Utah this year but there will not be any mourning- for lost possibilities. The "ifs" and "mig-ht have beens"-.those unmistakable expressions of the "old age" or "excuse" standard of athletic idealism-have no place where boats the significant banner of red blood and hard fig-hting\ Crimson for bravery-and because that noble color is the one rund which this student body has in the past and will continue in the future to rally, so must it wave them on by its symbolic connotation, on, ever on through a progressive fight, and never permit a looking- back into the disillusioned poppy land of lost opportunities. For it is youth's flag-. And youth pitches forward throug-h the trail of life g-athering- its riches along- the way and not until the gray hairs and failing-sight of old age appear will there be time or thought for retrospection on the reason for the journey. It is the athlete's flag. The athlete being the body of youth, dashes into that future, leaving the past as a record for the world to draw conclusions on and merely asks for more future through which to lunge and carve out a never ending ever novel history. So in the past basketball season the writing will stand without erasures or changes or mitigation of any sort and the record emblazoned by 1917 hoop artists of the University of Utah remain unlamented in the archives the year's achievements. If the school were older and more experienced, instead of being self sufficiently young, some cry of "unfortunate happenings" and "hard luck" might be placed upon the same tablet as the record of performance, and the two weighed against this season's history on the sport balances with interesting results. But this can never be. The games are played, the records made, it's the future we want to see. The Squad R. VAN PELT E. SPROULE C. WOODBURY E. THORUM J. SMITH . H. WARNER . L. ROMNEY (Capt.)
