Show )./ |4;| I/ ' Track 1916 THE grip of the cinders is a sensation which only they who have donned spiked shoes and other track toggery and trained can experience. The thrill, the recurrent calling-every spring-, which makes the feet itch and the legs eager to get out, is only acquirable by practice. But the sensation has been, felt and is now felt by many of the athletes of the University. The season 1916 on the track was a profitable one for the school. The cinder grippers and their worthy point-winning mates, the field event men, won every meet that the institution entered. Dual meets with U. A. C. and B. Y. TL showed the superiority of the Crimson in the springtime sport. Due to the uncertainty of distribution of points in a track meet, however, keen interest was manifested in the state meet because of the possibility that B. Y. U. might win a number of first places through lack of competition and thus beat the TL of U, if it split up with the U. A. C. in the other events. Needless to say the fears were ungrounded, for developments proved that the B. Y. U. took very few firsts in events that "U" men entered.
