Show Elementatre. 19c les-Céfar, qu'Jtant fur les bords du fleuve Rubicon, incertain s'il le pafTe-roit ou non, attendu que ce pacage étoit contraire aux ordres du Sénat, un prodige ouphantome refiemblanr à un homme , fort haut & beau par excellence, s'apparut à lui jouant d'un chalumeau fait de canne ; plu/leurs Bergers y accoururent, &c des foldats abandonnèrent leurs poftes pour l'ouir, entre autres les trompettes, à qui ce phantôme en arracha une , ôc fe jetta dans la rivière qu'il paffaàla nage , en formant l'allarrne d'une grande force avec cette trompette ; il parut pendant quelque tems fur l'autre bord de la rivière : alors Céfar dit à fon armée, allons où les prodiges des Dieux nous appellent; cette réfo-îution, dit Suétone, lui procura l'Empire. Il eft encore fait mention dans le Recueil des Hiftoires prodigieufes, Tome 2., ch. 6 , de celles des Satyres qui apparurent à S. Jérôme Se à St Antoine dans les deferts, confirmées par les Ecrits du premier, & par Se Athaïufe, dans la vie du fécond: je Riiij |
