Show It is the common belief today that all church members will be saved. This is far from what God has said about it in His word. It is not enough to join a church. Jesus said, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God." ", he that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit." (John 3:5 and I Cor. 6: 17). ... . This is plain. Joining a church does not make a new creature of you. It is joining the Lord (God is Spirit) that makes us new creatures. Many people are just church members and do not have the Holy Ghost to guide zrnd lead them. Thus they follow their '"Own carnality or fallen spirit, going to worldly pleasures, manifesting temper, greed, lust selfishness, and the ways of were with abhorrence;" " ... thus be led by the Holy Spirit, becoming humble, meek, submissive, patient full of love and all long suffering; having faith on the Lord; having a hope that ye shell re ceive eternal life; having the love of God always in your hearts" that ye may be lifted up at the last day, and enter into his rest." (Ro. 9;8, Ro. 8: 14, I Cor. 6: 17, Book of Mormon, Pages 350:4 and 351 :282m. - Thus we can plainly see, it is not enough to join a church, but that we must be baptized by the Holy Spirit and be creatures. Only those who do this are the children of Christ and we are to endure as new creatures to the end of our life, not returning to our old life, as a "dog is turned to his own vomit." (2 Pet. 2:22). come new men. "They which the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God:" "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." "But hs that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit:' are "Now they, after being sanctified by the Holy Ghost having their garments made white, being pure and spotless before God, could not look upon sin, save it "Therefore nothing entereth into his rest, save it be those who have washed their gannents in my blood, because of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end." (Book of Mormon" Page 674:32). |
