For an example of this species I am indebted to the kindness of Dr. Power, who collected it. It was sent to me under the name of vittata, by which it appears it has been long known at Mauritius. CYCLOPHORUS LAYARDI, H. Ad. (Pl. XXVIII. fig. 21.) C. testa late umbilicata, depressa, solidula, confertim oblique striata et liris pluribus distantibus sculpta, sub epidermide fusca fiavi-dula; spira parum elevata, apice obtusulo, sutura profunda; anfr. 5, convexis, ultimo antice descendente; apertura obliqua, subcirculari, superne anyulari; perist. continuo, duplici, interno breviter expanso, albido, externo expanso, superne dilatato, adnalo.
