Groen- * This species was named Thalassema rupium by Lamarck in 1801, but not described; and the references he gives to the figures of Pallas and the Encyc. Method, represent the Sipunculus edulis. Savigny was the next to name it, which he did by calling it Thalassema vulgaris. H e describes it at some length (1809), and refers to the proper figures of Pallas &c. I have therefore followed Forbes and Goodsir in preserving the specific name given it by this eminent naturalist. |
