In 1900, Taylor bought the vernacular, single story, adobe structure which was built in 1878. He began the substantial addition of a brick, Colonial Revival Style, two story Foursquare, dwarfing the original adobe structure. The brick house has a stone foundation and a gabled, hip roof. The gables were added at a later period and serve as attic vents. A gabled dormer, originally located on the south elevation, has since been removed. The front porch extends the entire length of the house and i tYs hip roof is supported by four massive piers. The front facade is syrrmetrically arranged. The main entrance has a paneled door with a s~ll rectangular window which opens. The property is now a smaller portion of a once large orchard. Al though the house is now surrounded by suburban development, it still sits on almost one-half acre which is covered in lawn and thirteen mature trees, most of which appear to be as old as the 1900 addition. It has a stone foundation and a stone cellar under the house with hand-made brick covering the floor. There have been several small additions to the original structure, one of which is a single car garage with a shed roof. The windows on the adobe house have wood lintels and sills. Some of the wood sashes are original and some have been replaced with aluminum windows. There are the remains of two chimneys in the attic that no longer extend through the roof. A portion of the adobe house has been turned into a five room apartment. The other portion serves as a kitchen, laundry room, den and bathroom for the main house. There is a small enclosed entrance porch on the east side. The present laundry room was at one time a very early kitchen. It has a pine and r fltir hutch built half way into the wall on west and there are tongue and groove cu'pboards on the east wall. BRICK ADDITION (c.1900) The fired brick is red with white mortar.
