Show Record I examined and used map, Exhibit marked 498. Complainant's Exhibit 498, being a map used by Mr. Miser and Mr. Trimble on the San Juan, was received in evidence. Charles Spaulding Howard recalled and testified on cross examination as follows: I have report No. 274 that you asked for. The results as far as suspended matter is concerned are mentioned in a paper by Dole, Water Supply Paper No. 395. The report No. 274 has nothing in it on the San Juan, but on the Colorado it covers the period from January 1, 1905, to December 30, 1905. I referred to some work that was done in 1892, but I was unable to locate those reports. Mr. Dole has the summary of those in his Water Supply Paper 395, which is already in evidence. The year 1904 is also in Mr. Dole's report. Will R. Chenoweth testified for complainant on direct examination as follows: 3884 I live in Washington, D. C. I am a topographic engineer employed by the Department of the Interior. I have been in the Government service since 1907 with the exception of a year and a half. I have been on the Green River down to its mouth and I 3885 have been on the Colorado from the mouth of the Green to Lees Ferry. I made the trip from Greenriver, Utah, to its junction with the Colorado in September 1921, with seven men including myself, to make a plan and profile survey of the river from the mouth of the Green to the mouth of the San Juan, in connection with proposed 3886 dam sites and power projects. We had different kinds of boats at different times. Starting at Greenriver we had four boats in the party. They were 18 feet long, 3 1/ 2 feet wide and 18 inch draft. One boat had an 3887 outboard motor attached to it. The purpose of the Cataract Canyon trip was to complete the mapping from the mouth of the Green to the mouth of the San Juan. |
