INTERVIEW: Hayer Page 23 was the main thing she wanted to go to Weber College because all her friends go over there. She was very disappointed because I wouldn't send her to college. Finally I told her, 'Okay, if you want to go to college I'll help you,' but then she thought, then she started going with this, her boyfriend and very serious and then she forgot about college. And then she got engaged. She work, she works at City and County Building for Lambourn, Mr. Lambourn. In a office overthere, I don't know what she do, but she worked ov;r there. And she got tired of staying home and all her friends going to college and everything, and like I said it was pretty hard for me to send the girls and the boys because, the boys, the girls worked during the summer, they could never make the money the boys would make. Because Vincent worked for the railroad and one summer he made $1500, enough for his tuition and everything. So the girls would work, let's say in a office. They don't pay them as much, not even in a office they don't get paid especially if you just start. Maria, my girl, work in a office and she makes three dollars and something an hour, but she's been there for seven years. So you see, she's a very good typist and real secretary work. She could type and do shorthand and she took all that in school. Business machines, they did all that one thing I encouraged them. I said you better take type, shorthand, business machines in case you go to work some bank or some office you know all this machines so they all took it.
